Audit services and audit reports are critical in monitoring and evaluating the outcome and impact of the management and use of public resources, and providing valuable information on whether we as a country are achieving our developmental priorities and service delivery objectives.

Our work is therefore very critical in enhancing accountability in the public sector, with the ultimate aim of transforming lives of the citizens. We are guided by the needs of the Kenyan people in asking for accountability on how their money has been spent by those in authority.

The Auditor-General (AG) is mandated to audit and report on the use and management of public resources by public entities.

Article 229(6) of the Constitution requires the Auditor-General to confirm whether public money has been applied lawfully and in an effective way. This is a broad responsibility that requires the Auditor-General to go beyond accounts certification and compliance.
